Starting in the morning at Snow Lakes, I made the final climb up to the lower enchantments basin. Even though that 1500 foot gain wasnt as bad as the 3900 to Snow Lake..it was grueling. Once I got to the first lake, Lake Vivian..the views of the electric yellow larches rejuvenated my energy and it felt like walking on a flat trail to Perfection Lake. That flat trail feeling quickly changed as I made my way up Prusik Pass! Only a 1/2 mile and 500 ft in elevation gain..I stopped half a dozen times to catch my breath..the views back to Perfection Lake and Little Annapurna were amazing though! Reaching the top of Prusik Pass..I admired stunning Prusik Peak from it's side before scrambling down to the infamous Gnome Tarn.
Unfortunately my time was limited and had to make the 10 mile trek back out on that day, but the beauty that was displayed even in unfavorable light was..enchanting. This coming fall I will have more time to spend, and at closer camp spots to enjoy all this magical place has to offer.
